Past Shows (2005) |
Sun Dec 18th, '05 - Private show, Milwaukee, WI The last S2D show of the year meant back rubs for everyone in the band. If you need to know more... well, why? Let's just leave it at that. |
Fri Dec 16th, '05 - Emmanuel Lutheran's Basement, Rockford, IL This was in the basement of a church. Before you decide that's uncool, remember that right now it's pretty much THE ONLY all ages club in Rockford; that means, this show rocked. And then rocked some more. We played with The Knaves, Deadly Nightshade, and Egan's Rat's. We were the only ska band. We be bringing the ska to the Rockford. Jah. |
Sat Dec 3rd, '05 - Mainstage, Waukesha, WI (21+) We played at the Main Stage, which is pretty much the only place you'll see ALL of us somewhat drunk. (There's a good 45% chance that Nate will be drunk at ANY show, even if it's just on female charisma, but we're talking in regards to the whole band...) This was great, great fun. We debuted our new song "I Command You To Dance" here, and the drunk/very drunk/too drunk people liked it. After all, we're people people... |
Fri Dec 2nd, '05 - Der Rathskeller (Memorial Union), Madison, WI Okay, this was easily the best show we played in Madison all year! Thanks to everyone that came out! We played with Mustard Plug and Sunshine Policy, (the lead singer of the Sunshine Police used to date my sister's girlfriend, oddly enough, (says RR Nate),) and it was awesome. Whoever the hell is in charge of booking at Der Rathskeller...book us again. We loved it. To Death. It was to die for. Thanks to everyone that came out! It made us feel macho in Madison. |
Tues Nov 29th, '05 - Carroll College, Waukesha, WI The school held this show as an AIDS fundraiser in the Ballroom of the Campus Center. For some reason, the ghosts in this building always try to wreck Nate's bass cabinet (the amp always sounds like it's about to die...but only when we play here). |
Sat Oct 1st, '05 - Marquette Sports Annex, Milwaukee, WI (18+) The Annex had a "family weekend", which meant that we changed all of our songs to reflect lessons learned from The Cosby Show. We played with our friends The Fever, and Truth In Fiction, whom Kenny and Mike liked a lot. There was also a little pre-show bowling and air hockey, where I (Nate) was made to feel like less of a man. All in all, a good time! |
Fri Sept 30th, '05 - Salvation Army, Oak Creek, WI This was a benefit show for juvinile diabetes, and we single handedly raised enough money to combat diabetes...forever! Oh, well, we did have some help from We're Not Heroes, Anura, and several other bands that will go unnamed. It's a little known fact that I (Nate) was asked to go to a Homecoming Dance at this show; I was unable to attend, but I'll probably go to Prom. |
Sat Sept 24th, '05 - Rascals, Winona, MN (21+) Oh Umbrella Bed, awesome are you. We played a cool club owned by a Russian lady in Winona, which is what being in a band is all about. Hired Geeks were also on zee bill. |
Fri Sept 23rd, '05 - From The Ground Up, Wisconsin Rapids, WI Our second show in Wisconsin Rapids proved to be our most awesome show in Wisconsin Rapids. We played with Sullen Riot, The Ska'ttsmen, and...ourselves. Wisconsin Rapid's semi-legendary Captain Emo was there as well, and when he wasn't moping, he was getting heckled by the crowd. Thanks to everyone that came out, especially Courtney The Destroyer and Kelly, who hand-made an S2D shirt. |
Thurs Sept 22nd, '05 - Inferno, Madison, WI (21+)
It was only a matter of time until we played a show at a club with a fetish night...we played with
Reason For Leaving, who played a
completely great cover of "Date Rape", and Supa Ranks, which was some awesome toasting business.
This is the only bar in Madison you can currently smoke in too, so people did while we played.
The next night, there was jello wrestling. Todd tried to enter the contest...but it didn't happen. |
Sat Sept 17th, '05 - private party, WI We played a wedding on this day, which proved that S2D is not only gnarly, but also your OBVIOUS choice when you want to set the mood for undying love. |
Fri Sept 16th, '05 - Main Stage, Waukesha, WI (21+) This show rocked balls. Orphonic Orchestra played an S2D cover (Old News) that put us to shame, and The Fever mesmerised us with their sheet manliness. Several people executed the drinkey skank, and only one person fell over! It was rad. |
Sat Sept 10th, '05 - The Vault, Windsor, Ontario (Canada) Somehow, the Windsor kids NEVER let us down. Great turnout for the show, great bands, and great beer (wait, that was AFTER the show). Thanks to Colin for putting the show together for us. Hopefully the Vault keeps having shows, because it was a great place to play. |
Fri Sept 9th, '05 - US Beer Company, Chicago, IL (21+) Sometimes you just gotta do the best you can with what life hands you...or DOESN'T hand you. We showed up only to find out the other bands on the bill were not coming. It's not fun being the out of town band and being forced to play 2 sets instead of 1, but you do whatcha gotta do. |
Sat Aug 27th, '05 - Private party For all those Valpo show-goers, we played at Brian and Katie's wedding! We had a great time, and even got the job of throwing the bride and groom into the limo so they could go make more babies! |
Fri Aug 26th, '05 - Private party What housewarming party would be complete without one of our wonderful sets? Although we expected the cops to bust it, we were able to get to the end of our set. We will all have nightmares for weeks to come due to the male nudity. |
Sun Aug 7th, '05 - Wisconsin State Fair, Milwaukee, WI Our first State Fair show, and we think it was a hit! We boozed it up on the Old Style Heartland stage from 4:30-6:30pm. The other stage sponsor was Major Goolsby's, so they provided us with some awesome grub. Thanks go out to the stage manager Bingo and sound guy Jeff for making everything run smooth. |
Sat Aug 6th, '05 - Park Rock 2005 (Robinson Park), Wisc. Rapids, WI This was the 3rd year of Park Rock, the coolest local DIY fest in Central WI! Show ran from Noon-11pm, 2 stages housing 15 bands! |
Sun July 17th, '05 - Bastille Days, Milwaukee, WI Cathedral Square Park was packed this sunny Sunday afternoon. We met a lot of interesting people (if the polish girls see this, email us...I've got a polish co-worker to hook you up with), had our eardrums busted by the Blue Angels flyby, and got sweaty for everyone on stage. Due to the amazing sound, some of us now actually know what Nate sings in some of the songs! |
Fri July 8th, '05 - Summerfest, Milwaukee, WI WOW! That was an amazing show for us, and thanks to everyone who came out! Playing Summerfest is definitely the pinnacle of Milwaukee shows, so we hope to do that again next year. We also got to ride The Donnas...scratch that, I mean ride WITH The Donnas (in a van, that is). Cute girls who put on a mean rock show! |
Wed July 6th, '05 - Slipper Club, Madison, WI (21+) The Slipper Club can do no wrong. Both shows we've played there have been great. The Familiars opened the night with some great pop/rock. |
Tue July 5th, '05 - Tanner Paull, Milwaukee, WI Our first West Allis show! Bands were: David Darrens, Same In The End, Turnaround Captain, Something To Do, Those Royals, The Afterword (MI), and Boombox Republic. FLYER. |
Tue May 31st, '05 - Main Stage, Waukesha, WI (21+) The night was not without confusion, but eventually Perfect Orange and S2D tackled the task of rocking the guests at Main Stage. |
Sat May 21st, '05 - Johnny's Lounge, Beaver Dam, WI (21+) Automatic Gool & S2D took on the Beaver and won! But the $7 ladies' night all-you-can-drink special took advantage of a few of our gals ;) |
Sat May 21st, '05 - Milw. Riverwalk, Milwaukee, WI Automatic Gool & S2D share the stage 2 times in one day! This afternoon show helped raise money for Milwaukee School of the Arts. |
Sat May 14th, '05 - Skappleton, Lawrence University, Appleton, WI Another Skappleton has come and gone. Thanks to all the other bands we played with that helped make it yet another successful show. Just a recap of many of the bands who played: Suburban Legends, Deals Gone Bad, Umbrella Bed, IV4K, Catch Of The Day, Hired Geeks, Tusker, Urizen, Duct Tape Mustache, and more. |
Fri May 13th, '05 - Disabled American Veterans Center, Iron Mountain, MI The Suburban Legends, Flip 50, S2D, and ANS tore the roof off this place. On the way back home, we battled heavy fog, almost ran out of gas, and fended off a Friday the 13th living dead attacker. |
Wed May 11th, '05 - The Warehouse, LaCrosse, WI The Suburban Legends put on an amazing show. The Warehouse owner Steve describes them as "The best ska band in the world", and I think that sums it up quite nicely. Urizen also put on a great show. |
Sun May 8th, '05 - YMCA, Chesterton, IN The Suburban Legends rocked the hizzy like nobody else can. Other bands were Quarters Only, The Presidency, and Late Night With Nubert. FLYER |
Sat May 7th, '05 - Private party, Oconomowoc, WI Sweet 16 party at a resort in Oconomowoc - it doesn't get any better than that! |
Sun May 1st, '05 - ACME Records, Rockford, IL We had a good time playing Acme Records this Sunday afternoon (well, besides the 12hrs of driving we did to get there from Tennessee). Other bands were Punch Drunk and Bikes Not Bombs. FLYER |
Sat Apr 30th, '05 - Ska Weekend, Knoxville, TN
![]() Wow, what a well put together show. Great job Ben! Ska Weekend was a big success again this year, with tons of food going to the local Second Harvest food bank. Here's a list of who played: MU330, MUSTARD PLUG, PLANET SMASHERS, PERFECT ORANGE, THE KNOW HOW, GO JIMMY GO, SUBURBAN LEGENDS, DEALS GONE BAD, THE FAD, HIRED GEEKS, THE MALCONTENTS (Indianapolis, IN), MR. GUY AND A FEW GOOD MEN, LAS CABRIOLAS, THIRD GRADE SCUFFLE, SGR, THE TAJ MOTEL TRIO, RUDY, 33 WEST, THE BLUE BARRACUDAS (Long Island, NY), SOMETHING TO DO (Waukesha, WI), THE RIGHTAWAYS, UPTOWN CREEPERS, THE DEBONAIRES, AKA RUDIE, STUCK LUCKY, HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL HEROES, I VOTED FOR KODOS, and BOMB THE MUSIC INDUSTRY. |
Fri Apr 29th, '05 - Shawnee Foundation, Louisville, KY This was a day of intense bowling...oh, and we played a show too. After ironing out a few kinks in the soundsystem, we rocked alongside Mustard Plug, Sock Puppet Mafia, Straight Laced, Mr. Case, and Knowledge Related Injury. Louisville, thanks for the warm welcome, and we'll do our best to get back there later this year. |
Mon Apr 25th, '05 - Potawatomi Casino, Milwaukee, WI (21+) That's right, not only were we nominated for 2 awards at the 25th annual WAMI (Wisconsin Area Music Industy) awards ceremony, we were also one of 11 bands to perform. Unfortunately we didn't win anything, but our buddies in Sunspot won GROUP OF THE YEAR. Keep and eye on the WAMI website as they'll eventually have DVDs of the awards show for sale. |
Sat Apr 23rd, '05 - Party In The Park, Madison, WI Brrrr...we're still shaking from that performance. The temperatures along the lake were near freezing (and very windy), so our fingers were very exposed to the elements this afternoon. Thanks to those who braved the elements to come rock out with us. Hopefully WSUM raised lots of money to help keep their station running in tip-top shape. |
Fri Apr 22nd, '05 - Potawatomi Casino, Milwaukee, WI (21+) This is a great example of a venue that has their sh*t together! Professional crew, great sound/lighting, awesome backstage area, and don't forget you can do as much gambling as you'd like (it's nice they have those $500/hand Blackjack tables for us high-rollers). The show was put together to honor WAMI (Wisconsin Area Music Industy) nominated bands. Other bands were Copper Box and Johnny Wad. |
Wed Apr 20th, '05 - Fox 6 morning show (TV), Milwaukee, WI Dis was da bomb! We played "I'm An Opportunity", and closed with part of Elvis Costello's infamous "Radio, Radio". This performance was courtesy of our WAMI nomination for Band Of The Year. |
Fri Apr 8th, '05 - Monkey Wrench, Appleton, WI Bands were S2D, Cambridge, Arcadia, McInnis, and Big Ships Big Storms. Fun was had by all, especially us as there was a fairly large stage to prance around on. You should check out the Valley Fair Mall website to see upcoming shows at the Monkey Wrench. It's a great all-ages venue to play! |
Sat Mar 26th, '05 - Lussier Teen Center, Madison, WI IV4K set us up with yet another awesome show in Madison. Plunket kicked major booty too! And we once again got to rock out with our friends Tusker. |
Sat Mar 12th, '05 - Carroll College, Waukesha, WI This was a VH1 sponsored "Save The Music" show. Other bands that played: Rabid Aardvarks, Boo Radley, Silent Point, Kerry McConaway and the Element, Zen Feat, Rob Anthony, Flip 50, Litmus Vinyl, Albatross, and Lash. |
Sat Mar 5th, '05 - Valparaiso/Portage, IN Our 100th show!!! Bryan advertised up the wazoo, but it all was worth it as the turnout was great. Other bands were The Skallywags, Tusker, and Quarters Only. Show was at the Portage Yacht Club - 1370 Route 249, in Portage. P.S. - Bryan, sorry I broke the stage (Mike). |
Fri Mar 4th, '05 - Humility Gallery, Chicago, IL We were all feeling the Indecisives/Tusker withdrawal, so it was nice to hang out with those guys/gals again. It took us 99 shows to get into Chicago, but I think we'll be back in the Windy City again soon. Bands were: Who Killed Kennedy, Something To Do, Tusker, Mighty Casey and the Strike-Outs. The venue is at 546 W. 18th St. in Chicago. |
Fri Feb 25th, '05 - 8th Note (UWM Union), Milwaukee, WI This a cool venue to see bands in, and it's located right in the Student Union on the UWM campus. All ages, open to the public, and best of all...it's always FREE! 3 bands played: Synthetic Elements (from Colorado), S2D, and the Twitch Kids. |
Sat Feb 12th, '05 - Main Stage, Waukesha, WI (21+) It was Don's B-Day, so how could we say no to that? Mike was sick, girls were touching each other inappropriately (or appropriately, depending on who you talk to), Al stopped by (last time we saw him was over a year ago), and Erin grabbed many of our butts on the way out. Stereo Theory and 20 Reasons Taken rounded out the lineup. FLYER |
Thur Feb 10th, '05 - Reeve Union (UW-Oshkosh), Oshkosh, WI Wowzers...tons of people showed up for this one. Catch of the Day did their thing for the first time with a new trumpet player, and sounded great. Highlight of the night was all the FREE food Nate choked down (who orders a WHOLE pizza for themselves...AND another basket of fried broccoli to wash it down). We had a great time, so hopefully the music committee brings us back again before the year ends! |
Mon Jan 31st, '05 - UW-River Falls (Brandy's), WI Apparently Ska ISN'T Dead, as the Ska Is Dead 2005 tour brought in a ton of people to this UW college town. Although MU330 didn't make it, we made sure to bring the rock to help make up for that. Voodoo Glow Skulls and Streetlight Manifesto did their thing...and well. |
Sun Jan 30th, '05 - The Warehouse, La Crosse, WI As Kenny put it on stage at this show, The Warehouse is THE best all-ages venue in the Midwest that we've ever played. Steve does an amazing job keeping it running, and it's kids like you who help support it. And support they did, as almost 100 people made it out ON A SUNDAY NIGHT! Urizen opened the show and Vermicious Kinids did their thang too! |
Sat Jan 29th, '05 - Slipper Club, Madison, WI (21+) We played this hip place in a hip town (The Slipper Club), and the hipness rubbed off on all who showed. On A Sun and Automatic Gool played with us for this one. The bar layout here is nice, as the stage and bar are separated, yet the main bar still has some TV monitors showing the band as well as speakers to hear them (but at a lower volume so you can still hear yourself thinking about sex). |
