Past Shows (2004) |
Sat Dec 11th, '04 - Mad Planet, Milwaukee, WI (21+) Oh sweet Agony! For the first time in the 3-decade career of S2D, we lost a battle of the bands! Oh! However, we all felt pretty good about it because we were really impressed with The Danger. They were fantastic, as were the free old-fashioneds that we drank all night long. Otherwise, Mad Planet is a really cool venue and we were happy to play there. Our advice? Don't get in a battle of the bands with The Danger, because they're really good and they're from Kenosha AKA K-Town. |
Sun Nov 21st, '04 - Live on WSUM radio, Madison, WI Mmmm....radio.....good times! One of us that will go unnamed was remarkably hung'd over, but we still had a great time at WSUM. After playing, we were interviewed, where it was revealed....that we all think we're pretty funny! Ha! Thanks to WSUM for having us. |
Fri Nov 19th, '04 - VFW Hall, New Berlin, WI Nothing says rock (and old guys drinking beer..) quite like a VFW does, so we played a show with Last Impression, Betting On Jamie, Figaro and The Twitch Kids. Also there: that guy that was in his underwear. Thanks to everyone that came out and through down veteran style! |
Sat Nov 13th, '04 - Mad Planet, Milwaukee, WI (21+) Battle Of The Bands, and we won! One of the bands wasn't able to make it, so it was a one-on-one sort of battle. Turnout on our side was a little weak, so we need y'all to come out to the next one. Next tier of the battle is at Mad Planet on Sat Dec 11th, 2004. |
Fri Nov 12th, '04 - UWM Union Ballroom, Milwaukee, WI Battle Of The Bands, and we won! 6 bands, all of which had their own unique style. Lots of fun had by all. |
Fri Oct 29th, '04 - Somewhere Milwauke-ish...., WI We rocked so hard, the ceiling fell...no really, the ceiling fell! Our buddy Carlos staged an awesome Halloween costume party and asked us to play. How could we turn down free food and scantly clad women? |
Fri Oct 22nd, '04 - New Moon Coffee House, Oshkosh, WI Ok, here's the deal...this was awesome. We played with The Conley Effect, Sit Down Sara, and the late great Not Without Maggie; rumor has it that it was their last show! There were girls with homemade S2D shirts! There was coffee! Also, there was lots of kids there, and somehow some stuff got broke...er...sorry about that...I guess we need to write more power ballads! Thanks to everyone that came out...we are going to come back to the Fox Valley for sheezy, early in the new yizzle! |
Fri Oct 15th, '04 - Mainstage, Waukesha, WI (21+) WOW! That's the first thing that comes to mind. This was our CD Release show, and the people came running. Not sure if it was our chick-magnet bass player Nate, or just the FREE BEER we were giving out. And boy did they drink...the 200+ crowd went through 10 kegs! We were down to the last keg in the bar, so good thing they didn't run out. Thanks to The Servos for sharing the fun with us. |
Sat Sept 25th, '04 - private party, Windsor, Ontario (Canada) Those who were there know it was way cool. We'll try to come back again soon. |
Fri Sept 24th, '04 - YMCA, Chesterton, IN Our buddy Bryan set up this killer ska show outside Valpo in Chesterton. Tons of kids showed up and witnessed a bunch of cool bands do what they do best...rock the hizzihouse. They included: IV4K, Arrogant Sons Of Bitches, Taj Motel Trio, One For The Books, Quarters Only, and Rude King. |
Sat Sept 18th, '04 - UW-Platteville, Platteville, WI What a cool building! The Pioneer Student Center is only 2 years old, and they definitely put some effort into making it a cool place for shows. Huge stage, lots of room for kids, and the acoustics weren't half bad. Catch Of The Day rocked everyone's socks off, and Bottle Of Justus put on a great show. |
Thurs Aug 19th, '04 - Lussier Teen Center, Madison, WI I Voted For Kodos owned the crowd at this one. It was their tour closer, and the kids were off the hook! We had a blast, as well as the other bands: Parachute Please Open, Face The Grave, and Zero To Sixty Never. |
Sat July 31st, '04 - TC Underground, Minneapolis, MN The TC Underground never fails us. The owners and the kids are always cool to us, which makes it a lot of fun to play. The Afterbeat drove straight through from Albany, NY to play the show, and afterwards got to drive back to Canada to sleep in their own beds for the first time in a month! The Conley Effect opened the show with a great set. Don't forget to visit MNSka.com for all your MN Ska needs! |
Fri July 30th, '04 - Libertyville, IL Where was everybody? 2 bands couldn't make it, and apparently the fans couldn't make it either. High points of the night: 13 year old guy who wailed on guitar, and Free mini-golf. |
Thurs July 29th, '04 - Riverfest, Waukesha, WI Thanks to those who stopped out and shared a Leinie's with us on the Leinie Lodge stage. For those of you who didn't stop by, you missed teachers dancing on tables, a drunk birthday girl, 3 legged midgets, and us trying to fill as much time as possible...well, most of that is true. |
Tues July 27th, '04 - Bucketworks, Milwaukee, WI For a place that doesn't do shows very often because it's an art gallery, I think the show went fairly well. Thanks to Stereo 7 for setting up the show. Also, thanks to Urizen, Catch Of The Day, and Not Without Maggie for coming out to play. |
Sun Jun 27th, '04 - The Court, Valparaiso, IN Every time we hit Valpo, they give us many reasons to want to come back. Thanks for Bryan for putting together an awesome show! The Suburban Legends taught us a thing or two about a thing or two. Their stage show is bootylicious. Think NSYNC, but cool (and minus the millions of dollars of lights and effects). Also, thanks for The Presidency for bringing their huge crowd to the show, and One For The Books, who put on a great ska-punk set (first band I've heard to pull off a Slapstick cover that actually sounded good). |
Sat Jun 19th, '04 - Wild Woods of Terror, Saginaw, MI The venue was every bit as terrifying as expected, but that made it soooo cool. Stamp'd and The Kingpins joined in the festivities, as well as Nothing For Something. Drunk Stamp'd video footage exists from the show, but I'm also thinking ghosts and goblins are there too, so it probably won't make the website. |
Fri Jun 18th, '04 - Duck Fest, Cleveland, OH Remember our winning entry "When I'm Stuck, I Turn To Duck Tape" for the Rock about The Roll contest...well the Duck company asked us to come out and perform at their yearly festival in Avon (about 20 mins west of Cleveland). Fun was had by all...the kids loved us, the parents loved us...we even loved us. There's a possibility we'll be back there next year, so pencil us in your calendars. For more festival details check out the Avon Duct Tape Festival website. |
Thur Jun 17th, '04 - Main Stage, Waukesha, WI Back to back shows with the Kingpins! Good turnout, but people gotta learn to come up and hang out with the bands BY THE STAGE instead of standing across the room. This venue is huge, and where else can you sit on leather couches while watching bands...'nuff said. |
Wed Jun 16th, '04 - Triple Rock Social Club, Minneapolis, MN Considering it was a Wed, the show could not have gone better. Being our first time at the club, the sound was truly impressive. Minneapolis...be happy you have this awesome club. This was our first show with The Kingpins, and hopefully not our last. Umbrella Bed also rocked the joint. |
Sat May 15th, '04 (afternoon) - Southside Music Cafe, Burnsville, MN This place is an awesome venue...great sound, great bar, great atmosphere - complete with Harleys and Bikers! |
Sat May 15th, '04 (evening) - Blue Moon, Neenah, WI Considering this was our 2nd show of the day, we were still able to rock it like nobody's business. Not Without Maggie played a rockin' set (well, the half we saw...we had a 5+ hr drive from MN) |
Sat May 1st, '04 - The Annex, Madison, WI
(We tried to compete with the biggest block party of the year...and lost.)Urizen and The Hired Geeks joined the chaos, along with a last minute addition of a touring FL band. |
Sun Apr 18th, '04 - Skappleton 2004, Appleton, WI Ahh yes sweet sweet Skappleton! Ska fans from around the state laughed, cried and skanked as some of the midwest's finest ska bands did their respective things....and that was before Mustard Plug, Catch 22, Big D, and The Planet Smashers played! Ska craziness was in the house. Thanks to everyone that came early and stayed late! |
Fri Apr 2nd, '04 - Final Destination (old Red Rüm), Oconomowoc, WI Sweet! Once in awhile, we like to play a bar show, to accomodate the slightly older, slightly drunker and slightly more violent people that like us....and this is the place we like best. There's something special about people throwing beer everywhere and then falling all over the place while trying to mosh....it brings a tear to the eye. We broke out our brand new song "Fine Like You" and we didn't mess it up at all! Thanks to everyone that came out, including The Servos, who played a kickass set....check 'em out! |
Tues Mar 30th, '04 - The PIT (Carroll College), Waukesha, WI We played this fancy show with SGR, some friends of ours from New Jersey; they play THE COOLEST version of 99 Luftballoons that we've ever heard. We broke out a few of our newer songs here, including "Leave Me Alone" and "Still Makin' Babies". Thanks to Rey at WCCX 104.5 for hooking us up with this show....he is a kind and gentle man. |
Fri Mar 26th, '04 - Somethin' To Do, Shawano, WI First off, nothing says good times like a band and a venue having the same name. It's very rock. Apparently Somethin' To Do in Shawano is closing down, so if you weren't at this show, that's your loss dude. YOUR LOSS! We played with Not Without Maggie and Start From Scratch (formerly the Somatics), and good times were had by all. Plus, we got lots of electric shocks from the microphones, proving that God was in the room! |
Sat Feb 21st, '04 - Sports Annex, Marquette Univ., Milwaukee, WI
Highlight of the night: Mike beating Nate & Marc 3 times in Air Hockey. I swear, that Mike never
loses when it comes to air hockey. Now if only he could get the tonsil hockey mastered... Kenny also lost to his wife at bowling. I don't think he'll hear the end of that. Oh yeah, and we played a show with Early Means Two and One Man Crowd. |
Sat Feb 7th, '04 - TC Underground, Minneapolis, MN Ohhh....sweet Minneapolis. We've got a thing now for TC Underground, so if you're in a local band and looking to get your thang on, check them out. We played with Halfway To Nothing , whom are all between the ages of 12-15 and they kicked some underage arse! We done had a great time up der and we're DEFINETELY coming back soon. |
Fri Feb 6th, '04 - One2One Teen Center, Waukesha, WI The admission for this show was a mere $2....which made it the cheapest way to see S2D in about seven months. It was a total steal. We played with our life partners in Out Of Line, as well as with RWK, whom we don't know at all. Due to popular demand, we busted out our award winning version of Get Off Of My Cloud, which we hadn't played in awhile....we also played a show stopping version of "Them from King of the Hill"....history was made! Also, Todd and his lady friend got yelled at a few times for sitting too close to each other. We're not sure if the security was trying to prevent pregnancy, or just cooties. |
Sat Jan 17th, '04 - Appleton, WI This was a benefit show for the Headley Family of Appleton, who lost a daughter in a car accident. There hundreds and hundreds of pounds of band at this show...like 10 or 11 bands or something. It was incomprehensable! We broke many things at this show, including the PA, Marc's Trombone, and "Wind" (...well, at least Todd did...). Despite the technical difficulties though, we had a great time. Truly the Fox Valley proved to be a foxy experience... thanks to everyone that came out early and stuck around for a giganto rockin' marathon! |
Sat Jan 10th, '04 - Rave Bar, Milwaukee, WI If you didn't get out to this show, shame on you! We played with Big D & The Kid's Table, The Indecisives and Catch of the Day. Lots of people came out, and it was nice to see lots of familiar faces...thanks for coming out! Of course, you probably don't know where the Rave is because it's sort of out of the way, and there's not many shows there, but take my advice...it's cool. |
Fri Jan 9th, '04 - The Warehouse, LaCrosse, WI This was a good show to start the year with because everyone in the band becomes very aroused whenever The Warehouse is mentioned. (That means we likey!) When you combine that with our dear friends Pick 9 being on the bill, and blammo! Good times. |
