Past Shows (2002)
|
Fri Dec 20th, '02 - Points East Pub, Milwaukee, WI
Is there a better way to spread xmas cheer than to play a show at a bar
in downtown milwaukee? Well, yeah, I think so too, but we had a lot of fun here. We played
with Rock Music's own Ripp Winkler and the ever ready Fast Eddie. (Honorable mention goes to Deegan (Fast Eddie's bass player..)
for providing fine xmas fun and lead vocals on the Batman smells version of jingle bells!)
Kenny broke a string on his guitar, because he's ALL man ladies, and sometimes he doesn't know
his own strength, okay? This was our last show of 2002, making it nineteen or twenty shows for us,
so look out, we're a well-oiled rockin' machine! (I'd describe myself as well-oiled too, for different
reasons...) Thanks to everyone that came out and saw us this year!

Sat Dec 7th, '02 - Phoenix Room/UW Green Bay, Green Bay, WI
Yup. We got down with the Mustard. In a year of good shows, this has to be one of the funnest
we've played, great venue, great bands to play with, great crowd, and great goodness it was cold!
The Otis Coates opened 'er up, (with a distinctive blend of rawk and comic hijinks...)
then we did our thing under some exxtra bright lights, and then
Mustard Plug did their spicy yellow thang! This was such a fun show that Trumpet Mike even yelled in
the microphone to say how much he liked the crowd, and he never opens up like that! Thanks to the
fellas at UWGB for having us and giving us a dressing room to be fancy in!
|
Sat Nov 29th, '02 - Studio Hall, Oshkosh, WI
This right here was a CD Release for the strapping young lads in Ripp Winkler, on the busiest
shopping day of the year! Very crafty. Tom Sawyer and Catastophe played as well, and we
busted ALL of our finest Elvis moves. Rumor has it that Mike (the tall one with the trumpet...)
traded one of our famous and lovable Something to Do thongs for three dollars and "a phone number".
Hmm! The Studio Hall in Oshkosh is a really cool newish venue, best of luck to them, and
thanks to the post-thanksgiving crowd for coming out, and thanks to Ripp Winkler for the
deviled eggs! (Next time though, don't give any to Todd, please!)
|
Sat Nov 17th, '02 - Red Rüm, Oconomowoc, WI
Any place that has an umlaut in their name has to be rockin', so we busted a move with our CD
release party here. We even decorated the place to look as pretty as we do! Out of Line (a band
that we hold close to our hearts...) opened it up with a bang, and then we rawked 'till the cows
came home. (Actually, there weren't any cows, just drunk people with grins, but just go with it!)
I saw some serious dancing, and some serious people dancing too! We even had a classy classy introduction
from Kenny's friend Luis (who also is an expert underwear salesman...)! Thanks to all our friends
that came out to this one, especially Todd's mom!
|
Fri Nov 16th, '02 - Community Building in Starin Park, Whitewater WI
Now this show right here was put on by Kevin from Deluxe Audio, so we had some deluxe audio allright,
plus some deluxe peeps in the crowd too! We played a couple new one's here (an original called In To
Deep, and the Violent Femme's chestnut Blister in the Sun...) without messing them up at all, which just
goes to show you how special we really are! There was some other cool bands on the bill, Better
Than a Kick, Get Rid Of Max, Inetrium, and this band called Once More Forever that was just
wicked and/or gnarly! Our show was so rawkin' that Kenny broke the "on" switch off of his amp! (He also
broke "the ice", and "some hearts"...) Special honors go to all those fine people that came from the Milwaukee area
just to get down and scandolize a Denny's after the show!
|
Sat Nov 2nd, '02(evening) - Marquette University, Milwaukee WI
Two shows, one band, and zero complaints! This was our second show of the day, but for some
reason (possibly one good-lookin', big time rockin' crowd...) we had lots o' energy to spare.
Kenny was so taken with this crowd, at several different times all he could say was "you're
SO cool!". This was a battle of the bands, and we actually took first place, which means we
get to play at SummerFest. No deep-fried food item will go undisturbed! Todd, Mike and I (Nate)
also took the time from our busy day to do some bowling.Todd bowled the highest score in an
unprecedented display of athleticism that left the mullets stunned! Thanks to everyone that
put this one together, Marquette University, you've captured our hearts...
|
Sat Nov 2nd, '02(afternoon) - Cascio Music, New Berlin WI
I always say it's all about playing at 2 in the afternoon, and that's just what we did here.
We (and a few other lucky lucky bands) won some recording time and a slot on this show from
the sassy and knowledgeable staff at Cascio Music. We went out with mondo energy, and had
a good time. As an added bonus, we won $100 gift certificate to the store, and also won
several packs of guitar strings in the super trivia throwdown. Just wait 'till we get on
Family Feud!
|
Sun Oct 20th, '02 - Jitters, Wells Hall on the UW-Whitewater Campus
We put this show together to help out a CA band called
Never Heard Of It, and it
was worth the effort. They put on such a rockin show, I think everyone in the place
will be back to see them when they play Milwaukee in February. We went up and did our thing,
then the local band "The Autumn View" played before NHOI took the stage. If you haven't
been to this venue before, make sure to make it over there. Great coffee, great people, and
a great place to hang out with friends when watching some kick-ass bands.
|
Sat Sept 28th, '02 - Club 770, Union South, Madison WI
So! This was quite the show. Lots of bands, lots of kids, and that capitol
city feel! Captain Salisbury, the Hired Geeks, Flypside, Best Foot Forward, and
I Voted for Kodos all played. We unveiled our version of Get Off of My Cloud, and
had a very, very, VERY good time. Plus, some kid stole my pink headband! Grr!
Some guy left a Mystery Science 3000 Video on the stage, so all's well that ends well.
|
Fri Sept 6th '02 - The BBC Bar, Milwaukee WI
We returned to the BBC to change the lives of some friendly Milwaukee citizens.
(Especially the big guy with the mohawk.) Played with those lovable merrymakers
Out of Line and the apparently geriatric (according to their website!) Tom Servos,
both of whom kicked serious arse! This was our sax player Erin's last show, and
it proved to be one we'll not soon forget. It was also unforgettable because
Todd and Kenny both received parking tickets, making it one for the books. (The, uhm,
law books. Get it? I kid!)
|
Sat June 29th, '02 - The Fuzzy Monkey, Kenosha, WI
SKA BANDS UNITE!! This t'was the 2nd show on the tour, with our dear chums
Out of line and the Hired Geeks, and new friends Path, Gimme Crack (whom
unsuccessfully tried to heckle us..), Wormtongue, Day after Day, and Musabi.
The sweltering heat only further unleashed our passion to rock!! (I've always
wanted to say that.) Thanx to all the bands that played, and thanks to the
Fuzzy Monky for being neither fuzzy or a monkey.
|
Sun June 23rd, '02 - The BBC Bar, Milwaukee, WI
Yup, we rocked it on the sabbath! Last Man Out's van broke down, (as did our
hearts when they didn't show up...) but Out of Line rocked it hard for an
exxxtra long set, skin flashing cartwheels from the crowd included, and
we had a good time too, even with a slightly queasy tromone player. Thank U
Milwaukee USA!!
|
Sat June 22nd, '02 - Ryan's Ballroom, Combined Locks, WI
SKA BANDS UNITE! That's the theme here, and this was the first of many shows this year
by some of Wisconsin's (and Michigan's) up-and-coming ska bands. Thanks to everyone who came
out to kick it with us and the other bands. Lineup was:
Something To Do,
Hired Geeks,
Out Of Line,
Stamped, and
The Exhibitionists.
|
Sat May 25th, '02 - Red Rüm, Oconomowoc, WI
For a small local bar, this place was really rockin! One of the best filled Jukeboxs I've
ever seen helped keep the place moving between bands. The other bands we played with were
Idle13 and
Tangy.
|
Sat May 18th, '02 - Lawrence University: Appleton, WI
As usual, Skappleton was another hit! Even though the Toasters were not able to play,
the crowd of 700+ skanked along to a long list of bands the whole afternoon and evening,
with Mustard Plug closing the show. There were tons of bands that played, but here's a
selection of them that come to mind:
Mustard Plug,
Flipsyde, Something To Do,
I Voted For Kodos,
The Exhibitionists,
Out Of Line,
Hired Geeks,
Captain Salisbury & the Mystery Meats, and
Stampd.
|
Sat Apr 13th, '02 - St Lawrence Seminary: Mt Calvary, WI
This was a private show, but boy was it rockin! We played a 5-song set at the end of the
school's talent show. There were lots of great acts, and the kids were amazing (standing
ovation and all). We even got a chance to stop by the Senior BBQ after the show. Thanks
to all who attended to making this the best show we've played thus far.
|
Sat Mar 30th, '02 - FDL Fairgrounds' Expo Center: Fond du Lac, WI
If you had to pick 1 show of ours to see in the next few months, this would be
the one to catch. The city is putting a few "test" shows to see if there is
the need for an all-ages club to have shows and stuff, so we need as many people
as possible to come check out the show. You'll have a great time AND you'll be doing
it for a good cause...club "Intensity"! The other band playing with us is a great band
we've shared the stage with before as SECW...they're
Captain Salsbury & The Mystery Meats.
The only thing out of the ordinary for this show is they will checking ID's at the door...to
make sure you're between the ages of 16-20. Nobody over the age of 20 will be allowed in!
$6 advance tickets, or more at the door. Our set will start between 9:30-10pm.
|
Fri Feb 15th, '02 - Karl Ray Lanes: Fond du Lac, WI
As always, this place was packed. We opened the show for the other bands:
The Somatics,
Jinxed, and The Super Headies. Thanks to everyone who came out to support the
local scene, and special thanks to Heather who was nice enough to get us on the
show at the last minute!
|
Jan 19th, '02 - The Orbit, Milw. WI
This show rocked...the entire floor of the bar was covered with SAND due to a
beach party the previous night. This may be the only time we get to play on a
sandy beach in Wisconsin in the middle of winter. For those of you saying to
yourself "I didn't know about this one"...sorry, it was a private party.
|
Nov 2nd, '01 - Fond Du Lac, WI
IT'S OUR FIRST SHOW!!!!! Keep in mind the show is Vitamin King's last
hurrah, so make sure you find a way to make it there. We're just gonna play
a short opening set to give you guys a taste of what's to come. Show is 7pm
at UW-Fond du Lac. I'm sure there will be more specific info on the show, but
this is all I know at this point.
